Picking my favorite casserole recipe is like picking a favorite child, you just can’t do it. But, if I was really pressed, I’d have to say this is near the very top. The alfredo gives it a creamy, nutty flavor and the onion and broccoli get perfectly roasted and are such a compliment to the bacon. It really is just… really good, and it’s such a comfort food for me. The best part is that it’s a healthier weeknight dinner with no junk or alfredo sauce with sugar or additives. With under 10 ingredients, it’s quick and easy to throw together.
Ingredients in This Whole30 Chicken Bacon Alfredo Casserole
This recipe is really straightforward in that it doesn’t take much for it to all come together. The key here though is to have the chicken and bacon already cooked. I typically always have roasted or shredded chicken in the fridge as part of my meal prep each week, but if you don’t, you can microwave, boil or roast the chicken to cook in through quickly. The bacon will also take only a few minutes to pan fry if you haven’t done so already, and then simply set it aside to cool before you chop it.
You’ll also need broccoli, a white or yellow onion, and hash browns. I use frozen hash browns, and they are fairly simple to find in major grocery stores with no sugar added these days. Target and Walmart carry them in the freezer section. You could also shred your own potato by using a wide cheese grater.
Dairy-Free Alfredo Sauce
The last ingredient needed to pull the entire casserole together is the dairy-free alfredo sauce. You can opt to make your own, but I am loving the new Primal Kitchen Garlic Alfredo Sauce. It’s one of the 5 new pasta sauces they’ve created, and it’s gotta be my favorite. I love having it already in the pantry ready for nights I don’t feel like doing much other than dumping the sauce into a casserole or a skillet and having a healthy meal on the table.
Primal Kitchen also has another dairy-free alfredo flavor besides the garlic alfredo sauce, which is the classic alfredo. Both are made with cashew butter and are also keto friendly. The other sauces in their new pasta sauce line are tomato basil marinara, roasted garlic marinara and dairy-free vodka sauce.

How to Make this Whole30 and Paleo Chicken Bacon Alfredo Casserole
Once you have all of your ingredients prepared and the oven preheating, you’re going to add them into a 3-4 quart casserole dish after you’ve lightly greased it. Pour the alfredo sauce into the casserole dish and use a spoon to incorporate the sauce into the rest of the ingredients, being gentle as to not smash the vegetables while you stir to combine it.
After that, you’re going to pop it into the oven and let it bake for about 35 minutes, or until the top is slightly browned. This time may vary depending on what size casserole dish you used and how thick the casserole was in said dish, or by oven. This Whole30 casserole recipe is awesome as leftovers (seriously, so good), and it’s good in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. You can also double this recipe, and bake it for about 50 minutes if still using a 3-4 quart casserole dish.

Bailey has done it again! As a fellow Minnesotan I need a good hotdish recipe when the weather gets chilly and this one was great! Without the pre-made sauce I was a little skeptical, but it turned out amazing. Bonus points that it the leftovers heat up amazingly for meal prep.

This is so so so delicious and easy to make! I made it for dinner and couldn’t wait to wake up the next day and eat it for breakfast. It is that good!! I had to hide the leftovers because my non Whole30 eating family loved it as much as I did.

Made this on Halloween and will be making it again in the next few days! I loved it. I’m going to sauté the onions a bit 1st this time for the non onion loving people in my life.

Hi there! This dish is SO good. I’ve made it once so far and going to make it again. Just wondering if putting frozen broccoli would work ok? If you’d tried it
paleobailey says
I think it would be fine! You may need to bake for a few extra minutes, but should work a-ok!!
Sami says
Hi there!
Do you cook the Hashbrowns first or put them in the oven still frozen?
Thanks!
paleobailey says
Still frozen!!
Bethany says
This sounds delicious! What frozen hashbrowns are Whole 30 compliant?
paleobailey says
Hi! I get Mr. Dell’s brand which is at my area Target and Walmart stores. Depending on where you’re located, it’ll be different. Fresh Thyme carries their own brand of compliant option, Cub carries a brand called Essentials Everyday brand. Sprouts has a brand called Cascadian Farms. Those are all around me though!

This is definitely one of my favorite meals that the whole family loves! It has great flavor and is easy to prepare, especially on those busy weekday evenings. It also makes awesome leftovers, and I’m not usually a fan of leftovers, but this one just can’t go to waste! Try this recipe, people! You won’t regret it!

This is so awesome, Liz!! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review! I so appreciate it, and I’m thrilled your family loves this! <3 - B

Can you freeze leftovers?
paleobailey says
You can!
Megan says
Could I used cut up baked potato or uncooked shredded potatoes instead?
paleobailey says
Yes! Uncooked shredded potato would probably work best. If you diced up a potato it might change the baking time to need to be cooked longer 🙂
Jen Buzby says
Do you precook the broccoli
paleobailey says
Hi Jen! No you don’t 🙂
Jennifer King says

LOVED this recipe. I’m new to using nutritional yeast but this made it so good. Your Alfredo Sauce recipe to go with this was amazing as well. The left overs were so delicious. I’ve made 3 of your recipes over the last week and they’ve all been awesome. Also, I never leave comments but feel the need to with your recipes because they’re so good. Thank you for sharing.
